I-680 Auxiliary Lanes Project

San Ramon-Danville, California

The $62.6M project provided 4.2 miles of auxiliary lanes in each direction of I-680 between Diablo Road in the Town of Danville and north of Bollinger Canyon Road in the City of San Ramon. The project improved weave and merge maneuvers in this segment of I-680. New soundwalls, retaining walls and abutment walls were among the highway structures included in the project.

Haygood & Associates designed the aesthetic features for the walls and received media coverage for their excellent designs. Oak leaves and stylized hills in the design are context sensitive reflections of the local terrain and native trees.

Native Oaks were among the species included in the Haygood & Associates drought tolerant landscape design, irrigated by a water-conserving irrigation system. end of article
