BART Castro Valley Station
Castro Valley, California
The landscape for this light rail passenger station was designed as a garden setting to provide an attractive facility for passengers and to blend it into the adjacent residential and commercial neighborhoods.
The plant materials are attractive, durable , and easy to maintain. Pink-flowing Crape Myrtle trees provide attractive living umbrellas accenting the entrance to the passenger station. The planters flank the staircases within the pedestrian plaza.
Haygood & Associates was the landscape architect for the Bay Area Rapid Transit District East Dublin Pleasanton Light Rail Extension that links San Ramon valley with cities on the east side of San Francisco Bay in California.
The design included sites for two passenger stations and six power stations. Services provided included conceptual design, construction documents, cost estimates , and construction support services.
